Winter Must-Haves

Wondering how long before people start noticing you wear the same joggers or lulu’s again and again? Ready to change it up? Yes it’s winter, it’s freakin freezing out and it would be so much easier to not have to think about your wardrobe, so here are my top winter must haves with some add-ons to spruce up your day look, evening look or your new winter blues look!

Imma’s Top 10…

1. The Logo Tee

My fave is Balenciaga but have you seen Fila, Fiorucci or Levi’s? So great to layer under a cardi or blazer! Not your thing for winter? Then make it a Logo sweatshirt! Hooded or not, so great with leggings, jeans or a pleated skirt. I love the Gucci in bright colours and mixed prints. Kenzo, Levi’s, and Calvin Klein are fab too! Ok so you’re not into logos? A good turtleneck, fitted, loose-fitting, sheer or cashmere, layer it with a dress shirt or long tee, drape it over a skirt, tuck it into skinny jeans, or on top of leggings.

2. A Turban/Head Scarf

Don’t be scared, try one on and realize it works so well even with a track suit or covering up, hehem, dry-shampooed hair ? Too much for you? Try a ball cap, be it leather, metallic, Sports team, branded, its hot and adds an edge. Or try a slouchy toque – so easy to wear!

3. A good Blazer

Loving the trendy masculine blazer right now. The options are endless, from classic waist-cincher double breasted at Balmain, or printed loose fitting at Zara. Stella McCartney always has a good one. So great even as a day look with culottes to a night look with distressed denim and a fab pump. Not your look? Try an Oversized cardigan…wrap it, belt it, layer it. Colour doesn’t matter, as long as you love it! I love a good length cardi that covers my buttocks!

4. The Fashion Runner

Wear while travelling, school drop off, make it a sock sneaker or high rise, embellished, chunky, personalized, doesn’t matter. Looks great with a maxi dress too and based on past fashion weeks, anything goes now. My fave, the Balenciaga triple S trainers and Givenchy Paris strap sneaker.

5. The Western Boot

So amazing- love this trend! From Fendi to Saint Laurent, I think almost every designer is on it. Not feeling this? Then the Utility boot is for you! Wear this with everything. Loving it with a knit maxi dress or jeans. My fave right now…the LV wonderland flat ranger.

6. The Maxi Dress

From woven knits to patterned silks and various neck lines, belt it, layer it with a cardi or denim jacket. Feeling adventurous? Try a Slip dress. Always my go-to when nothing else fits right. I love it layered with a tee, sheer turtleneck or leggings. So adorable worn with a western boot and always glam with a good pump.

7. The Tote handbag

Love me a great trendy tote. Be it clear plastic, canvas, leather, doesn’t matter. Can’t even handle myself over the new Christian Dior totes in their signature toile canvas. Have so many already? Try a new clutch then. Yaaaaassss, pair it with those pumps. Or the utility boots. Logo everything is coming back and designer clutches seem to be less expensive than larger handbags. Choose a great one you’ll keep using over and over again. Saint Laurent and Chanel always my go-to’s.

8. The Culotte Jean,

or pant so great with a tucked in turtleneck or tee. Dress it up with pumps, or wear with sneakers you can’t deny this chic look. Not your thing? Faux leather leggings. My fave? Spanx. You’ll wear them with everything, all day, everyday. Not into these? Do a pleated skirt, whether it be prints, lace, metallic, classic black, doesn’t matter. Tuck in a blouse or out, knot a logo tee, layer a turtleneck, bodysuit, sport bra, the possibilities are endless.

9. A Teddy Coat

Still trending in every shade. Love it in tan or blush. Max Mara top of my list but if you don’t wish to break the bank for this one, Aritzia & ChicNYC have fab options. Over this? Or you just can’t wear it? A Shearling jacket then. Acne Studios, Zara, Levi’s
These options Feeling too heavy on? The Motorcycle jacket then. Still is and always will be a staple. Love it oversizes, or layered with any look, that maxi dress or with leggings and an oversized turtleneck sweater!

10. A good Pump

Even the most casual mom probably can’t attend a dress-up function without them so splurge and choose an amazing pair. From classic Manolos or Louboutins to a jaw-dropping Giuseppe Zanotti or Prada creations, you can’t go wrong with this.

A few more of my favourite things:

Statement Eyewear

Every gal should have a pair. We’re talking out of the norm total statement piece, go round, goggle-shaped, choose bling, bright colours, doesn’t matter. Everyone will notice these and it’s a great accessory to spice up any outfit. Try Carrera, Dior, Gucci, le Specs.

The Trench

Still on trend this coat is so great in oversized or with some added deconstructed flare. Loving Burberry’s iconic vintage check trench or Alexander Wang’s acid wash trench. Layer it, wear it with a track suit underneath or office dress. Never disappoints!

A good Scarf

Try blanket size or a pattern you wouldn’t normally wear like check. Acne Studios does a great one and still loving the Balenciaga logo scarfs too.

A Fanny pack or Backpack

So cool and so easy for travel. Prints or with added bling, every designer is making one. Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Stella McCartney and Saint Laurent to name a few of my faves.

A good Belt

Layer it over a maxi dress or sweater, and cinch that waist that’s always hiding behind sweatshirts. Gucci all around!!!

That Earring

Yes make it a great statement much like the shades, only they don’t come off indoors! From Bohemian inspired pieces to a vintage bejewelled pair, this is sure to finish any look. Oscar de la Renta, H&M or Zara never disappoint.

A phone case

A phone case, that dazzles. This will be your most-used accessory because most of us can’t live without our phones. I like to switch mine up to a cooler trendy case if I’m headed out to a night on the town. Much like the statement shades, everyone will notice your phone case. Designer cases I love…Gucci always, LV and Stella Mccarthy.
