I consider myself a city girl. I will admit, concrete just makes me happy and comfortable. And living in an amazing city like Toronto is fab but NYC is tops for me. One of my very fave, jet-set weekend escapes in any season, the city never disappoints.
For my 15th wedding anniversary, hubby and I decided to get away for a short stunt, just the two of us.
I’ve been dying to stay at the renowned flagship Baccarat Hotel.
Upon arrival, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Our suite was ready and adorned with Baccarat crystal objets that had me dreaming and twinkle-eyed at first site, with pretty bouquets of perfect red roses – the French luxury brand’s colour of choice, a canopy bed, and corner to corner chic modern flair.
A beautiful care package of delectable chocolates, red gold dusted macarons, pastries that looked way too perfect to eat, and champagne were set out for us with a beautiful hand-written note of well wishes from the management team. It was exquisite – a dream really!
We hung out at the Grand Salon, The Bar and The Terrace.
All boast cozy yet grandiose settings. Glistening crystal candelabras, fresh rose sphere bouquets, and true Parisian decadence right in the heart of New York City.
At The Bar, we sat while sipping well-crafted cocktails poured into stunning pieces of Baccarat crystal.
The array of cocktails included concoctions such as the OPUS,
a Chili-Infused and Prickly Pear Cointreau or try the JOLIE EN ROSE, a rose, rhubarb and wild strawberry Vodka mix.
The Grand Salon was where we enjoyed breakfast. Everything from black truffle scrambled eggs to croque monsieur. Or full tea service, with quail egg, caviar & blini and blood orange white chocolate mousse.
The well-versed hotel concierge booked us a fancy shmancy dinner where we enojoyed Alsatian-inspired cuisine from Culinary Director and Two Michelin-starred Chef Gabriel Kreuther, including a wine pairing menu that left us love-struck.
And what’s more, the hotel features an exclusive Spa de La Mer where treatments like the Miracle Broth facial or Cashmere quench wrap treatment will leave you feeling refreshed and ever so rejuvenated.
Some other details I’d like to share…
The hotel is a stone’s throw away from MoMa – The Museum of Modern Art as well as the MoMa design store. One of my faves for great home inspiration and kids gift finds.
Also, perfect stroll-walking distance to Bergdorf Goodman. I thoroughly enjoyed an afternoon of shopping the sales while there. Maybe a little too much. I managed to snatch up some great summer finds by Ganni and Zimmermann, as well, a pair of super sexy PVC Gianvito Rossi pumps. (One of summer’s must-haves!) And their children’s department has a great selection of designer brands including Gucci and Balmain. Got the kids some super adorable clothes on sale too!
Remember to stop and hydrate at the picturesque BG Café on the 7th floor with sweeping views of Central Park, open daily for lunch, tea, cocktails or dinner.
